Country Air Properties History Time Line
1980 - Susan Fusco starts Country Air Properties at Lampson Field Airport, Lakeport
1981 - New branch opens in Downtown Lakeport.
1983 - Spence Hiatt, owner / broker of Burnes - Hiatt Realty in Soda Bay merges with
Fusco. Airport office closes. Lakeport office moves to 901 S. Main St. to serve
with Soda Bay office.
1985 - Phil Smoley and Irene Rivas come to work as new agents. Hiatt serves as
President of the Board of Realtors.
1986 - Fusco moves to Sonoma County, Hiatt buys her out.
1989 - Hiatt moves to Sonoma County, Smoley begins to manage company.
1990 - Hiatt sells company to Smoley.
1991 - Lakeport office is moved to 995 S. Main St. making it the largest
real estate office in Lake County.
1991 - Country Air becomes the top selling brokerage in Lakeport and
Kelseyville.
1992 - Country Air buys Riviera Land & Home, closes Soda Bay office. Branches
opened in Upper Lake and Middletown. Smoley serves as President of the
Board of Realtors.
1993 - Country Air becomes the top selling brokerage in western Lake County.
1994 - Upper Lake and Middletown branches closed.
1995 - Property Management Department unveiled. Country Air buys Bill Johns Realty
office on Cobb Mountain. Country Air affiliates with Creative Property Services
(Country Air Properties). Lakeport office is moved to 808 Lakeport Blvd., remaining Lake County's
largest.
1996 - "Seller Guarantee" is announced, insuring superior customer service. Country Air Properties
Country Air becomes top selling brokerage in all of Lake County.
2000 - Country Air Properties buys North Shore Realty in Lucerne, becoming it's fourth office.
Irene Rivas is recognized as Lake County's top selling Realtor-Associate in the
90's.
2001 - Country Air Properties is recognized as the top selling Lake County brokerage over
the last five years, and having 8 of the top selling 25 Realtor Associates in Lake
County in 2000, including 3 of the top 5. Country Air Properties's unique staff-agent
program highlighted in "California Real Estate" magazine. Country Air Property
Maintenance Division is created.
2002 - Irene Rivas recognized in April's "California Real Estate" with a full page spread.
2003 - Gena Smoley serves as president of the Lake County Association of Realtors.
A branch office is opened in Middletown, increasing full-service offices to five.
2004 - Tom Pelandini named Director of Operations to assist the company to maximize
its internetpresence and adding new marketing programs to increase market share
2005 - The Clearlake Real Estate Center opened, adding the sixth branch office and reaching
the company's goal of total coverage of the Lake County real estate market. Country Air has its best year ever with more than $165 in gross sales, the most ever by one
company in Lake County history while the Lake County Multiple Listing Service (MLS) reaches
a milestone by reporting more than $1 billion in sales for the year.
2006 - The Middletown branch is relocated to a historic Victorian building at the south
edge of town, creating a gateway information center to people entering Lake County
on Hwy 29. Irene Rivas voted Agent of the Year by the Lake County Association of Realtors.
Country Air achieves a market share of more than 16%, up from 12% at the end of 2004. The company establishes a Summer Intern Program to offer an inside look at real estate as a career. Country Air Properties becomes the all time top selling brokerage of Lake County real estate
2007 - Tom Pelandini elected President of the Lake County Association of Realtors.
Brandee Conger becomes the first Summer Intern to receive a real estate license.
Country Air Properties acquires Keys Landing Real Estate in Clearlake Oaks, giving
the company a full-service real estate office in every population center in Lake County
2008 - Tom Pelandini voted Agent of the Year by the Lake County Association of Realtors.
A new division, Lake Front Homes, created to offer specialized service to owners
and buyers of lakefront and channel front homes. Country Air Properties hosts
Customer Appreciation Nights at each branch office to thank our loyal buyers and sellers with a bar-b-que dinner
2009 - Country Air Properties again hosts a Summer Intern Program in cooperation with
Lake One Stop to provide workplace experience to students. The company hosted two Country Air Properties Country Trails Open House weekends, featuring more than 60 homes open throughout
Lake County. Country Trails was the largest open house event in Lake County's history
2010 - The company's booth at the Lake County Fair experienced more foot traffic than past years
due to the Match-A-Number game where Fair goers looked for another Fair Visitor with the same number sticker and both would come to the Country Air Properties booth to spin the wheel for prizes. Broker Phil Smoley was elected President of the Lake County Historical Society
2011 - Country Air Properties brokered both sides of one of the largest sales of the year,
$1.1 million for the Ferndale Resort on the shores of Clear Lake. The company introduced new property management software to provide full integration of all facets of managing rental property.
2012 - Ray Perry is elected President of the Lake County Association of Realtors. The company's
property management business experienced dramatic growth, more than doubling the
number of properties managed. This strong growth helped offset the decline in
real estate sales. Jim Magliulo of Country Air Commercial becomes president of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.
